Mxogyny (Community Interest Company No. 12297121) is committed to protecting your personal information and privacy in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’). 

this Privacy Policy describes what data we collect from you and how we store it, as well as your rights in relation to any personal information we hold about you. by using our website or signing up to our mailing list, you agree to your personal information being collected and used in the manner set out in this Privacy Policy. you may request to view or change the data we hold, or withdraw your consent entirely, at any time.

we regularly review our policies and may update this Privacy Policy from time to time on our website. 

what information do we collect?

we request personal information from you when you subscribe to our emails, make a purchase on our online store or become a paid member of our community. 

financial transactions relating to our website and services are handled by our payment services provider, Stripe, via Squarespace. their privacy policies can be found here and here.

if you sign up as a paid member of our community, we will collect personal information from you in accordance with Patreon’s privacy policy.

cookies

a cookie is a small text file. we use cookies to improve your experience of our website and to help us understand the parts of the website that users are visiting, including which pages users visit when they follow links in our emails. cookies mean that our website will remember you from visit to visit. 

when someone visits the Mxogyny website we use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. we do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to various parts of the site. this information is processed in a way which does not identify anyone. we do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. 

how do we collect your data?

you directly provide Mxogyny with most of the data we collect. we collect and process data in the following ways:

when you give information to us directly — for example, when you purchase something on our website, interact with us on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, sign up to our mailing list, become a paid Patreon member, apply for a position, register for an event, make a donation to us, contact us or otherwise provide us with personal information.

when you use our website — we collect information about how people use our website and the pages that they visit through cookies and Google Analytics insights.

from public sources — we may use personal information that is available publicly, for example, we may use contact details available on public sources (including from publicly available social media posts) when organising a fundraising event.

how will we use your data?

how we use your information largely depends on the reason you have provided it to us. We may use your information in the following ways:

  • to provide further information about our work, services, activities or products.

  • to further our charitable aims, including fundraising activities.

how do we store your data?

we may hold your data in several different ways depending on how you provide it. personal information you provide to us through our website is held by our provider, Squarespace, in accordance with their privacy policy. personal information you provide to us when becoming a paid member is stored on Patreon in accordance with their privacy policy. 

we will generally treat any consent that you give us as lasting no more than 36 months (3 years) from the date you give your consent, or from the date of your last interaction with us. Once this time period expires, we will either delete your data by removing you from our mailing list or gain your consent to continue providing our services to you.

marketing

we may contact you for marketing purposes by email if you have agreed to be contacted in this manner. it is your choice as to whether you want to receive information about our work, how we raise funds and the ways you can get involved. 

you may opt out of our marketing emails at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the end of our marketing emails or by emailing us at mxogyny@gmail.com.

we will not use your information for marketing purposes if you have indicated that you do not wish to be contacted for such purposes.
